Vintage Bronze Clover End Crucifix

Clover spreads from the ends of this long bronze crucifix back toward the center: each of the four arms finishes in a trefoil cloverleaf, and every lobe carries a small cluster of dotted flowers. Another flower marks the middle of the lower shaft, a pierced crest tops the upright, and the corpus is slender and quietly modeled against all that growth.
A scrolled titulus above the head is lettered INRI, the Latin Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. Those were Pilate's words, meant as mockery and kept ever since as a statement of fact, and the three-lobed leaves at the arm ends answer them with the old sign of the Trinity. At nearly three inches, in warm antiqued bronze, the piece has real presence.
The clover end crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix's vintage character.
