The Vintage Bronze Ave Maria Monogram Rosary Center is made from nothing but a name. The interlaced monogram fills the whole piece, a tall pointed M crossed by an A, with scrolled volutes curling away to either side and a ground of fine engraved hatching behind. Small beads are set along the raised strokes, catching the light wherever the design turns.
Ave Maria: Hail Mary, the greeting the angel Gabriel brought to Nazareth and the opening words of the prayer a rosary repeats fifty times over. Monogram centers were a graceful way of setting that greeting into the fabric of the beads themselves, so that every decade runs through the Virgin's own name.
