The pattern on this dress features an ornate emblem comprised of several of the earliest symbols of the Christian faith. At its center is the Chi-Rho, formed from the first two Greek letters of Christos, meaning “Christ.” Used by Christians since the ancient Church, it serves as a bold proclamation that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Above it, the cross and anchor are joined together. The cross recalls Christ’s saving sacrifice and victory over death, while the anchor represents steadfast faith and the hope believers possess in Him—an image rooted in the biblical promise that hope is “an anchor of the soul.”
Below the Chi-Rho appears the IHS Christogram, a traditional abbreviation of the holy name of Jesus.
