St. Werburgh
Anglo-Saxon abbess (c. 650-699/700), Mercian princess, daughter of King Wulfhere of Mercia and St. Ermenilda; entered the abbey of Ely under her aunt St. Etheldreda. Founded several Mercian convents at the request of her uncle King Ethelred. Patron of Chester, where her relics rest in the cathedral. Pre-Congregation.
