St. Timothy
Disciple of St. Paul from Lystra (Acts 16:1-3), son of a Greek father and Jewish-Christian mother Eunice; companion on the second and third missionary journeys, addressee of two Pauline letters. Tradition makes him first bishop of Ephesus, killed there by a pagan mob during a Diana festival c. 97. Joint feast with St. Titus January 26. Pre-Congregation.
