St. Theodosius the Cenobiarch
Cappadocian abbot in the Holy Land (c. 423-529), founded a great cenobitic monastery between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, complementing his contemporary St. Sabas (whose lavra was eremitical). Patriarch Sallustius of Jerusalem named him "archimandrite of the cenobites," St. Sabas of the lavrites, in 494. Defender of Chalcedon in the riots under emperor Anastasius I. Pre-Congregation.
