St. Theodora Guérin
French Sister of Providence (1798-1856), of Étables-sur-Mer in Brittany; sent to America in 1840 with five companions to found in the wilderness of Indiana what became the Sisters of Providence of Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods and the women's college of the same name. Endured years of conflict with bishops over the autonomy of her community. Canonized 2006 by Benedict XVI.
