St. Symmachus
Pope from 498-514, Sardinian by birth; reigned during the Laurentian Schism (a decade-long disputed papal succession with antipope Laurentius); built the original papal residence next to St. Peter's Basilica and authorized the entry of women to St. Paul's. Pre-Congregation.
