St. Sulpicius the Pious
Frankish bishop (c. 576-647), counselor of the Merovingian king Clotaire II, then Bishop of Bourges from c. 624; ransomed many captives during the wars of the Merovingian realm. The Parisian seminary of Saint-Sulpice (founded 1641 by Jean-Jacques Olier) bears his name through its parish dedication. Pre-Congregation.
