St. Stephen of Hungary
First Christian king of Hungary (c. 975-1038), Vajk, baptized at age ten with his father Géza; crowned the first Apostolic King of Hungary on Christmas Day 1000 with a crown sent by Sylvester II. Organized the Hungarian church into ten dioceses, established Christianity firmly, and founded numerous monasteries. Canonized 1083 by Gregory VII.
