St. Stanislaus of Kraków
Polish bishop and martyr (1030-1079), Bishop of Kraków from 1072; excommunicated King Bolesław II for moral excesses, and was killed by the king himself (or his men) while celebrating Mass at the church on Skałka outside Kraków. Patron of Poland; canonized 1253 by Innocent IV—the first Polish saint canonized.
