St. Sigismund of Burgundy
Burgundian king (c. 474-524), son of Gundobad; converted from Arianism to Catholicism c. 515 and refounded the abbey of Saint-Maurice d'Agaune. After ordering the murder of his own son, did public penance at Agaune; defeated and executed by the Frankish king Clodomir at Saint-Maurice. Pre-Congregation; one of the earliest royal saints venerated in Gaul.
