St. Rupert of Salzburg
Frankish bishop and missionary (c. 660-c. 710), of Worms, sent at the request of Duke Theodo of Bavaria to evangelize the Bavarian-Austrian region from Regensburg and then from his refounded Roman site at Iuvavum (Salzburg, "Salt-fortress"), exploiting the local salt deposits to fund his abbey of St. Peter and the see he established. "Apostle of Bavaria and Austria." Pre-Congregation.
