St. Rose of Lima
Peruvian Dominican tertiary (1586-1617), Isabel Flores de Oliva of Lima, of Spanish-Inca descent; private mystic who lived as Dominican tertiary in a hermitage in her parents' garden, supporting them by gardening and embroidery while caring for poor children, the elderly, and Indigenous and African slaves. First saint of the Americas (canonized 1671 by Clement X).
