St. Romuald
Italian abbot and founder (c. 951-1027), Ravenna nobleman who entered Sant'Apollinare in Classe at 20 in penance after his father killed a man; founded the Camaldolese Order (c. 1012), a unique combination of cenobitic Benedictine community with an attached colony of hermitages. Pre-Congregation.
