St. Romanus of Antioch
Syrian deacon and martyr (d. 303/304), of Caesarea, deacon at Antioch; arrested at the outset of the Diocletian persecution for encouraging fellow Christians not to sacrifice, his tongue cut out and finally strangled at Antioch with the boy Barulas. Eulogized in Prudentius's "Peristephanon X." Pre-Congregation.
