St. Richard Gwyn
Welsh layman, schoolteacher, and martyr (c. 1537-1584), convert from Protestantism, married schoolmaster of Wrexham; arrested for refusing to attend Anglican services, hanged, drawn, and quartered after four years' imprisonment. First Welsh martyr of the Reformation; canonized 1970 by Paul VI among the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.
