St. Raphael Kalinowski
Polish-Lithuanian Carmelite (1835-1907), Józef Kalinowski, military engineer of the Russian Imperial Army who fought in the January Uprising of 1863, sentenced to ten years' Siberian hard labor; on release entered the Discalced Carmelites in Austrian Galicia and labored to revive the Polish province after Russian suppressions. Canonized 1991 by John Paul II.
