St. Rainerius of Pisa
Italian layman and pilgrim (c. 1115-1160), wealthy Pisan merchant, pilgrim to the Holy Land where he renounced his trade after a vision and lived in penitential poverty; back in Pisa lived attached to the cathedral as a penitent and confessor. Patron of Pisa; the famous "Luminara" festival on his eve illuminates the Arno. Pre-Congregation cultus.
