St. Philip Benizi
Italian Servite (1233-1285), Florentine physician of the medical faculty who entered the young Servite Order as a lay brother; ordained reluctantly, fifth Servite General from 1267; reportedly fled Viterbo on hearing he might be elected pope at the conclave of 1268. Canonized 1671 by Clement X.
