St. Petronilla
Roman virgin (1st or 3rd century, traditional), traditional figure named in the early Roman martyrologies; legendarily a daughter of St. Peter (a confusion of names) but more probably an unrelated Petronilla of the Aurelian family of the catacomb of Domitilla. Long the patroness of the dauphins of France because of an alliance between Roman tradition and the Carolingians. Pre-Congregation.
