St. Peter Chrysologus
Italian bishop and preacher (c. 380-c. 450), of Imola, Bishop of Ravenna from c. 433; favorite preacher of the empress Galla Placidia, whose name ("Golden-Worded") reflects his reputation. Some 176 of his short, vigorous homilies survive. Doctor of the Church (1729).
