St. Onuphrius
Egyptian hermit (4th century, d. c. 400), monk of Hermopolis in Upper Egypt who withdrew into the inner desert as a solitary for some seventy years; subject of one of the most popular hermit-vitae of the medieval West (Paphnutius's narrative). Pre-Congregation.
