St. Mary of Jesus Crucified
Palestinian Arab Carmelite mystic (1846-1878), born in Galilee to Greek Catholic Arab parents, orphaned at three; survived a throat-cutting at thirteen for refusing to apostatize to Islam. Discalced Carmelite in France and Bethlehem (which she founded). Levitation and stigmata documented. First Palestinian Arab saint; canonized 2015 by Francis.
