St. Marcellinus and St. Peter
Roman priest (Marcellinus) and exorcist (Peter), martyrs (d. 304) under Diocletian; beheaded in a remote forest to prevent veneration of their burial place. Pope Damasus's verse epitaph survives, recounting that he heard their story from their executioner. Constantine built a basilica over their grave on the via Labicana. Roman Canon.
