St. Marcellin Champagnat
French priest (1789-1840), Marist Father who as parish curate in the Auvergne mountain hamlets founded the Marist Brothers (Little Brothers of Mary, 1817) for the Christian education of rural and working-class boys. Canonized 1999 by John Paul II.
