St. Lucian of Antioch
Syrian priest, biblical scholar, and martyr (c. 240-312), founder of the school of Antioch known for sober historical exegesis; produced a recension of the Greek Bible that influenced the Byzantine textual tradition. Eusebius of Nicomedia (and Arius) were his pupils, though Lucian himself died in communion. Tortured and killed at Nicomedia under Maximinus Daia. Pre-Congregation.
