Italian Capuchin (1559-1619), polyglot (knew at least eight languages including Hebrew); preacher, controversialist against Protestant theologians, military chaplain who led Imperial forces against the Turks at the Battle of Stuhlweissenburg (1601). Minister General of the Capuchins; Doctor of the Church (1959).
