St. Lambert of Maastricht
Frankish bishop (c. 636-c. 705), of noble Maastricht family, twice exiled and restored as bishop; murdered at Liège in a feud with the powerful Pippin family for rebuking the future Charles Martel's father over an adulterous union. The site of his martyrdom became the cathedral of Liège. Pre-Congregation.
