St. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros
Venezuelan physician (1864-1919), pioneer of medical science in Venezuela who declined religious life multiple times to continue medical practice and treat the urban poor of Caracas free of charge. Killed at 54 by an automobile in Caracas. Beatified 2021 by Francis; canonization announced 2025.
