St. John Southworth
English secular priest (1592-1654), Lancashire-born, ministered to the poor of Westminster, especially during the plague of 1636; arrested under Cromwell, hanged, drawn, and quartered at Tyburn. His relics rest in Westminster Cathedral. Canonized 1970 by Paul VI as one of the Forty Martyrs.
