St. Hyacinth of Poland
Polish Dominican missionary (c. 1185-1257), of the Odrowąż clan; received the Dominican habit from St. Dominic himself in Rome in 1220 and brought the Order to Poland, founding houses at Kraków, Sandomierz, and elsewhere. Apostle of Slavic eastern Europe; called "Apostle of the North." Canonized 1594 by Clement VIII.
