St. Gregory Barbarigo
Italian cardinal-bishop (1625-1697), Venetian patrician present at the Peace of Westphalia (1648) as papal envoy's secretary; bishop of Bergamo, then cardinal-bishop of Padua, where he reformed clergy formation, founded a press for editions in Hebrew, Greek, Arabic and Slavonic, and rebuilt the seminary library. Equipollent canonization 1960 by John XXIII.
