St. Germanus of Auxerre
Gallo-Roman bishop (c. 378-448), former imperial governor consecrated bishop of Auxerre in 418; twice traveled to Britain (429, 447) at the request of the British church to combat the Pelagian heresy, and according to Constantius's Vita led the Britons to victory at the "Alleluia" battle against Saxon raiders. Pre-Congregation.
