St. Frumentius
Phoenician-born missionary who, after being shipwrecked as a youth on the African coast, became tutor to the future King Ezana of Aksum. After receiving episcopal consecration from St. Athanasius of Alexandria around 347, he returned to Ethiopia and converted the king and the kingdom, establishing the Ethiopian Christian church that endures to this day. He is venerated as the founding apostle of Ethiopian Christianity.
