St. Francis Borgia
Spanish duke and Jesuit general (1510-1572), Duke of Gandia and great-grandson of Pope Alexander VI; viceroy of Catalonia, married with eight children, entered the Society of Jesus after his wife's death and was secretly ordained in 1551. Third Superior General (1565-1572), founder of the Roman College's mission system and of the Society's missions to Latin America. Canonized 1670 by Clement X.
