St. Eustace
Roman general under Trajan according to legend, converted by a vision of a stag with a crucifix between its antlers while hunting; with his wife Theopistes and sons Agapius and Theopistus refused to sacrifice to the gods and was roasted to death in a brazen bull. One of the Fourteen Holy Helpers; historicity disputed. Removed from the General Roman Calendar in 1969 but retained in the Roman Martyrology.
