St. Eusebius of Vercelli
First bishop of Vercelli (c. 283-371), Sardinian-born; introduced common life among his clergy, the model for canons regular. Exiled by Constantius II for refusing to condemn St. Athanasius at the Council of Milan in 355; staunch opponent of Arianism.
