St. Ethelbert of East Anglia
King of East Anglia (c. 779-794) who traveled to the Mercian court to seek the hand of Offa's daughter and was treacherously seized and beheaded at Offa's order. Quickly venerated as martyr; Hereford Cathedral is dedicated to him.
