St. Erasmus
Bishop of Formia in Campania (d. c. 303), traditionally martyred under Diocletian; widely venerated medieval saint, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, invoked against intestinal ailments and (as "St. Elmo") by sailors for the electrical phenomenon at the masthead.
