St. Enda
Irish abbot (c. 450-c. 530), warrior-prince of Oriel converted by his sister St. Fanchea; founded the great monastery of Killeany on Inishmore in the Aran Islands - cradle of Irish monasticism, where St. Brendan, St. Ciarán of Clonmacnoise, and many others were trained.
