St. Egbert of Iona
Northumbrian monk (c. 639-729) of Lindisfarne who took refuge in Ireland during a plague; lived as a hermit at Rathmelsigi, sent missionaries to Frisia (forerunners of Willibrord), and persuaded the Iona community to adopt the Roman date of Easter in 716. Bede records his death at Iona at age 90.
