St. Edward the Martyr
King of England (c. 962-978), eldest son of King Edgar the Peaceful; murdered at Corfe Castle at age 16 by the household of his stepmother Aelfthryth in favor of her son Ethelred the Unready. Quickly venerated as martyr; relics translated to Shaftesbury.
