St. Dionysius the Areopagite
Athenian convert of St. Paul mentioned in Acts 17:34, traditionally first bishop of Athens. The corpus of writings attributed to him (later shown to be by an unknown 5th-century Syrian author now called Pseudo-Dionysius) influenced medieval mysticism profoundly. Feast October 9.
