St. Cuthbert
Anglo-Saxon Northumbrian monk (c. 634-687), prior and later bishop of Lindisfarne; lived as a hermit on Inner Farne and was famous for his communion with sea birds and seals. His incorrupt body, with the Lindisfarne Gospels, was carried in flight from Viking raids and finally rests at Durham. Feast March 20.
