St. Charles Borromeo
Italian cardinal-archbishop of Milan (1538-1584), nephew of Pope Pius IV and chief architect of the reforms of the Council of Trent; reformed his own diocese as the model for tridentine renewal, founding seminaries and visiting plague-stricken parishes. Feast November 4.
