St. Bruno of Cologne
Founder of the Carthusians (c. 1030-1101), German cleric who, with six companions, retired to the alpine wilderness of the Grande Chartreuse near Grenoble in 1084 to establish a contemplative order combining hermit and cenobitic life. Feast October 6.
