St. Bertha of Kent
Frankish princess (c. 539-c. 612) who became Queen of Kent through her marriage to the pagan King Æthelberht; her insistence on Christian worship prepared the ground for the mission of St. Augustine of Canterbury and the conversion of her husband and people. Feast May 1.
