St. Benen
Son of the Irish chieftain Sesenen; baptized by St. Patrick and became his favorite disciple, known as "Patrick's psalm-singer" for his musical gifts. Coadjutor bishop of Armagh from c. 450; succeeded St. Patrick as chief bishop of Ireland. Helped compile the Senchus Mor (Brehon Laws). Feast November 9.
