St. Bartolomea Capitanio
Italian schoolteacher and co-founder, with St. Vincenza Gerosa, of the Institute of the Sisters of Charity of Lovere (the Bartolomeans). Despite dying at only twenty-six from tuberculosis, she laid the foundations of a religious congregation that would expand throughout Europe and into Latin America, devoted to teaching girls and caring for the sick poor.
